THE LINEAGE

MASTER
TO
DISCIPLE

Born in Kasama, Ibaraki, Osamu Tomita entered the ramen world inspired by Kazuo Yamagishi and trained under Koji Tashiro, one of Yamagishi's disciples.

In 2006, at age 28, he opened Chukasoba Tomita. Through an unwavering commitment to tsukemen and ramen, he has continued to develop both his craft and the people around him.

He does more than preserve what was handed down. He refines it through his own work and passes it forward—an expression of the succession at the heart of MENKIZUNA.

A LIFE
IN
RAMEN

At 28, he became independent and opened Chukasoba Tomita in Matsudo, beginning the pursuit of a bowl unmistakably his own.

  3. 2007

He received his first Tokyo Ramen of the Year award in the seafood-tonkotsu ramen category, followed by further recognition.

  4. 2018

    Appears in Ramen Heads

The documentary recorded his devotion to the craft, carrying his working philosophy beyond the shop.

  5. TODAY

The next bowl begins on the floor

Even while operating 15 shops and an in-house factory, he continues to work in the shop and pursue a better bowl.

THE PRACTICE INHERITED

Not preservation alone, but constant refinement.

Recognition and growth have not moved the center of his work away from the bowl. Rather than treating inherited craft as finished, he keeps revisiting ingredients, noodles, soup and service.

Showing the next generation what it means to remain present in the shop is itself a form of succession—the teaching preserved as daily practice, not words alone.
